Generator Services

Keep your backup power ready for the next outage

A standby generator sits unused for months, then is expected to start instantly and run for hours or days under load. Like any engine, it needs regular maintenance — oil and filters, battery checks, and a load test — to be ready when it counts. A neglected generator is the one that fails on the worst night of the year.

Power Up offers scheduled maintenance and service plans that keep your generator in top condition. We inspect, service, and test your unit on a regular cadence so you're never left wondering whether it'll start when the lights go out.

FAQ

Common questions

Don't see your question? Call us at 401-309-9255 — we're happy to help.

How often should a standby generator be serviced?+

Most manufacturers recommend at least an annual service, with more frequent checks for units that run often or carry heavy loads. We'll recommend a cadence based on your specific generator and how you use it.

Why does my generator need maintenance if it rarely runs?+

That's exactly why it does. Sitting idle, batteries discharge, oil degrades, and small issues go unnoticed — until the generator is asked to start and run for an extended outage. Regular maintenance is what makes sure it's ready on that day.

What's included in a maintenance visit?+

A typical visit includes checking and changing oil and filters, inspecting the battery and connections, examining the controls and transfer switch, and running a load test to confirm the unit performs. We'll note anything that needs repair.

Do you service generators you didn't install?+

Yes. We maintain and service standby generators from the major brands, whether or not we installed them. We'll assess the unit and get it on a healthy maintenance schedule.

What if you find a problem during maintenance?+

We'll explain the issue, what it'll take to fix, and the cost — and get your approval before doing any repair work. The goal is to catch small issues during maintenance before they cause a failure.
